Sesame Street's Maria, Sonia Manzano, Is Retiring After 44 Years

It's the end of an era for Sesame Street: Sonia Manzano—Maria for more than four decades—is retiring from the beloved children's program.
News of Manzano's departure arrived in the form of a tweet by the American Libararies Association, after she appeared at their annual conference earlier this week.
"After 45 years on Sesame Street, @SoniaMManzano will no longer appear on the next season," the tweet reads.
While Sesame Street has yet to comment, Manzano has been consoling fans on Twitter, even suggesting that she could return at some point.
"Maybe I'll go back for 50th anniversary and make a guest appearance!" she said in response to one fan. She also admitted that she has always been in love with Oscar the Grouch and asked fans not to be bummed about the news, which is probably going to be harder to do than it sounds.
Manzano joined the cast of Sesame Street in 1971, playing a then-teenaged Maria. The character went on to co-own the Fix-It Shop with husband Luis (Emilio Delgado). Over the course of her tenure on the series as a writer and actress, Manzano has won 15 Emmys.
Her other credits include the original off-Broadway production of Godspell and outside of Sesame Street she recurs on Law and Order: SVU as Judge Gloria Pepitone. Her kids book, The Lowdown on the High Bridge, will be released this summer. Her autobiography, Becoming Maria: Love and Chaos in the South of Bronx, is also due out this summer.
It may be the end of an era, but it's the "beginning of new endeavors," according to one tweet from Manzano.
Thanks for everything, Maria.

Cara Delevingne Is Preparing for a Hollywood Takeover

e might be the latest recipient of the British Fashion Awards’ Model of the Year prize, but it’s easy to see that Cara Delevingne’s career aspirations go beyond the runway. The 22-year-old supermodel has made no secret of her movie-star dreams—and judging from her most recent acting coup, she’s already well on her way to making it happen. Variety reports that Delevingne has joined the cast of the forthcoming Warner Bros. action film Suicide Squad alongside Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, and Will Smith. She’ll play the role of Enchantress in the superhero flick, which centers on a group of DC Comics villains who are given a rare shot at redemption. We’ll have to wait until 2016 to find out what happens, but luckily this is only the latest in a long line of Delevingne’s upcoming roles.
With no fewer than six films on the horizon, 2015 is already shaping up to be her breakout year. This winter will see the release of the Amanda Knox-inspired drama The Face of an Angel. Then early next year, she’ll star in the 17th-century period romance Tulip Fever, before taking on a supporting role in the action film London Fields, starring Johnny Depp. Late 2015, expect to catch her in the indie drama Kids In Love, which follows a group of wealthy Londoners as they explore a wild party lifestyle. If you follow Delevingne on Instagram, chances are by now you’re already well aware of her recentrole as a mermaid in 2015’s big-screen adaptation of Peter Pan. She’s been documenting the entire Pan filming process on social media, from her costume fittings to a sneak peek of her final transformation. But while each of the budding actress’ gigs is impressive, the one you really can’t miss is her sure-to-be-star turn as Margo in Paper Towns. The coming-of-age movie is based on the Young Adult novel of the same name by Fault In Our Stars author John Green and already has a rabid and loyal fan base. So even if Delevingne isn’t quite a household name outside fashion circles yet, that’s about to change. The downside: This recent leap to film will most likely mean less of the model on the runways, but not to worry. Whether it’s for Chanel or a major Hollywood blockbuster, you won’t have to search long to get your Delevingne fix on a screen near you.

Lily Collins Takes the Chanel Couture Beauty Look From Catwalk to Red Carpet

After seeing black veils stretched across models’ faces at Chanel’s Spring ’15 Couture show, it was only a matter of time before a starlet made the same statement on the crimson carpet. Leave it to Lily Collins—clad in Look 44 from the collection—to bring the birdcage beauty look to the Met Gala. “We talked about doing the makeup as seen at the show,” said makeup artist Molly Stern of the band of taupe shadow dramatically washed across eyes. “We tried it, but her brows are such a strong feature that we lost something about Lily.” Instead, the team turned to Audrey Hepburn, who would have celebrated her 86th birthday yesterday, and made her their muse. Keeping the traditional cat-eye shape, Stern twisted the classic concept by reaching for bright blue (Lancôme’s Liner Design Long Wear Calligraphy Gel Eyeliner in Indigo Darling), a hue popular among attendees like Constance Jablonski, Alicia Keys, Solange Knowles, and Lorde. “I treated the bottom of the skirt as if it were a watercolor palette, so I dipped into the pale pinky nude and navy-teal,” explained Stern. “I love doing an eye like this because I want to show women that you can actually wear blue eyeliner and not look like your granny.” A stiff liquid liner brush was used to apply the wing across the top and a fluffier version was employed to smudge the pigment along the bottom lashes for a diffused finish.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Embrace (an organic beauty brand recently cited on Style.com) was used to enhance the contours of Collins’ cheeks, while Lancôme Blush Subtil Crème in Coral Alize was popped onto the apples. A vibrant orange-red lipstick was softened with a layer of light peach to produce a pout that was intense but “not Technicolor.” Navy mascara “twisted the dial a little bit,” but wasn’t nearly as avant-garde as the Siouxsie Sioux-inspired maquillage Collins and Stern devised for the punk-themed ball in 2013. Before the net was put on, brows were tamed with a touch of Gorilla Snot gel on a clean mascara wand. “We were having a little bit of an issue with her lash getting caught on the net, but those are the fashion moments that you just have to deal with!” laughed Stern.

Kylie Jenner Lashes Out on Instagram

ll 2014 proved to be a strong season for faux fringe, with major lashes making appearances at Gucci, Versace, and Rochas. Even A-listers likeRihanna and Scarlett Johansson are getting on board, taking the trend to the red carpet in New York and London. And living up to what seems to be her beauty mantra—bigger is better (at least when it comes tolips and lashes)—Kylie Jenner posted this photo of lengthy extensions to Instagramonly minutes ago. To replicate the effect, we suggest seeing a pro or opting for a simple set of strip lashes (or three, as makeup artist Lucia Pieroni did at Rochas), then following the face painter’s application guidelines:

Step 1: Begin wrapping the fake fringe around a pencil to help the typically straight strips follow the curve of your eyes.

Step 2: Curl your natural lashes to “create an anchor for the [falsies] to sit on.”

Step 3: Apply clear adhesive to each strip and allow it to dry for a few seconds until tacky to prevent lashes from slipping around on your lids.

Step 4: Add a few coats of mascara over top to blend faux lashes with your real fringe.

Watch Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Sweat It Out

While supers of the past (like Cindy Crawford) filmed full-on workouts in classic Reeboks and scrunch socks, today’s models offer a snippet of fitspo via 15-second Instagram videos. Kendall Jenner demonstrated how she earns her abs and tones her bum with Gunnar Peterson, while Gigi Hadid showed off the secrets to her knockout body in the ring at Gotham Gym (a go-to spot for girls like Sara Sampaio, Josephine Skriver, and Irina Shayk). Sure, it takes a hell of a lot more than a few sweat-filled seconds to achieve catwalk-worthy curves (like those that are sure to be seen on the upcoming Chanel and Victoria’s Secret runways), but it should be just enough time to convince you to get off the couch.

Oh Snap, Ed Sheeran's Had a Girlfriend for Six Months?!

Whoa. Ed Sheeran has a girlfriend? Since when?
According to The Sun, Ed has been dating model and singer Athina Andrelos for six months. The two of them met through mutual friends.

'Things are going very well for Ed and Athina, they are very happy together - she's very cool," an insider told the site. ''Life is really good. They're having a great time but aren't living in each others' pockets. It's all very healthy and happy.''

We're super happy for him because he seems to kind of have a crappy past dating life. Ed recently opened up about girls in an interview with Billboard magazine and admitted he pulled a Taylor Swift and wrote a song about an ex cheating on him for his new record.

He said the song "Don't" is about, "someone for a bit of time, and then they ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in, while I was downstairs." We aren't sure but we're thinking he's talking about Ellie Goulding there...There were rumors she was dating him and then hooked up with his pal One Direction's Niall Horan shortly afterwards. Whatevs, though. It seems like he's moved on and his new gal is just as gorgeous as Ellie.

Click to see Ed's Billboard cover and to read the rest of his interview. Check out his new song "Sing" here. It was produced by Pharrell.

Poppy Delevingne's Chanel Wedding Dress Was Beautiful AND Genius

Poppy Delevingne wore Chanel Haute Couture to wed her long time beau James Cook in London on Friday. And she looked perfect.

Poppy's younger sister, Cara Delevingne, was a bridesmaid (wearing Chanel, too, naturally) for the nuptials which took St. Paul's Church in Knightsbridge.

Not only was Poppy's Chanel wedding dress beautiful (that intricate beading, those cap sleeves, the subtle floral details...), but it was a stroke of genius too. Because, later on that night, after the wedding, when Poppy and her new husband went off to celebrate at celebrity haunt du jour Chiltern Firehouse, the socialite/model removed the sheer underlay and wore just the top mini dress section of the gown.
